Build Plate Tape

    What is Blue Tape for?

The blue tape sheets that came with your MakerBot Replicator (Fifth Generation) help the PLA stick to the platform and make the print easier to remove when completed.

    Applying and Maintaining Blue Tape

Always remove the build plate from the MakerBot Replicator before applying tape. Use a soft, flat object like a plastic squeegee or credit card to press out any wrinkles.

After applying the build tape, clean the surface with rubbing alcohol. This removes oil residue left by your fingers. Oil or dust can prevent the PLA from sticking to the build plate properly.

How Long Does a Sheet Last?

If you remove prints carefully, you can reuse a single sheet for several prints. As a general rule, replace the build plate tape when it starts to tear. If you’ve used up the sheets of tape that came with your printer, you can order replacement sheets at the MakerBot Store.
