What Kind of Drive Block Do I Have?

    Drive Block Versions

New MakerBot Replicator 2X 3D printers are being shipped with different drive blocks than earlier versions.

    Newer Drive Block

The new drive blocks have extruder arms on the side. Press down on the extruder arm to move the extruder bearing away from the drive gear and release the arm to move the extruder bearing back into place.

    Earlier Drive Block

If you have an earlier drive block, your drive block will have an extruder lever arm on the top, which you can flip back and forth. Flip the arm to the open position to move the extruder bearing away from the drive gear and set it to the closed position to move the extruder bearing back into place.  The extruders below are both set to the closed position.
