Using MakerBot PrintShop

    Getting Started

When you open MakerBot PrintShop, you will see several different icons. The top row displays icons for the different Makers, which are tools that allow you to create a variety of 3D models. The Explore and Digital Store icons help you to find ready-to-print 3D models. The My Stuff icon takes you to a library of all the Things you’ve saved or purchased in PrintShop.

Swipe left to open a preferences menu where you can set the color in which the app displays your models. Tap outside of the menu to collapse it.

Creating a Model with a Maker

Tap on a Maker in PrintShop to create a block of type, bracelet, ring, vase, or medal. You can also create a 3D model from an image with Shape Maker. Each Maker gives you tools to customize the size, shape, texture, and other elements of your model:

    • Type Maker: Use this to create a block of text. Tap the T icon or the model to change the text with your iPad keyboard. The other icons on the right modify the height, shape of the backing, and slope of the model.

    • Bracelet Maker: Use this to create a bracelet. The top icon on the right changes your bracelet from a full to partial circle. The other icons modify the width, circumference, and texture of the bracelet.

    • Ring Maker: Use this to create a ring with a variety of ring tops, including some that you can purchase from the MakerBot Digital Store. Tap the circumference icon to set the size of the ring. Tap the jewel icon to choose your ring top. Some ring tops have customizable text; use the T icon to change the text using your iPad keyboard.

    • Vase Maker: Use this to create a vase. The icons on the right modify the height, texture, and shape of your vase.

    • Medal Maker: Use this to create a medal. The icons on the right modify the shape of your medal, the image in the middle, and the text at the top and bottom.

    • Shape Maker: With Shape Maker, you can turn an image into your own unique 3D model. For more about Shape Maker, click here.

Once you are happy with your model, tap Save to save the model to your MakerBot Cloud Library as a Thing. This will allow you to open the model in MakerBot Desktop so that you can scale and position it and print it with any MakerBot 3D printer. You can also tap Print to send the file directly to a connected Fifth Generation MakerBot 3D Printer. For more information about printing, click here.

NOTE: MakerBot Printshop is no longer in development and is NOT compatible with the MakerBot Print software. Please use the MakerBot Desktop software to access your Cloud Library.
