Printing an Object from MakerBot Mobile

How to Print from MakerBot Mobile

    1. Tap the menu icon.

    2. Tap Explore (iOS only) to browse models on MakerBot Thingiverse, or tap Library to see items in your MakerBot Cloud Library, including models you’ve liked or collected on Thingiverse, items purchased from the Digital Store, and your items from recent print history. Find a model you want to print and click Print this Thing.
Note: The connected MakerBot 3D printer will be listed at the bottom of this screen. If you want to print with a different 3D printer, tap the 3D printer’s name and choose the correct one from the list. Then select Use This Printer.

    3. Tap to select the file or layout you want to print. Layouts contain settings from a previous print, including size, rotation, location on the build plate, and slicer settings. If the app displays a screen that says "Checking if Printer is available" for an extended period of time after you tap the file or layout, make sure your 3D printer is turned on and connected.

    4. If you are printing a file, rather than a layout, a settings screen will open. Choose whether you want to print with support. We recommend that you always print with a raft when printing with MakerBot Mobile. This will help your prints stick to the build plate, and will help prevent issues if your Smart Extruder is slightly too close or too far from the build plate.

    5. Tap Send to Printer. To confirm the print, tap Start the Print. You can also press the control panel dial on a MakerBot Replicator or MakerBot Replicator Z18, or the Action Button on a MakerBot Replicator Mini.

During the print, the app will display a live camera feed. Use the buttons at the bottom of the screen to pause or cancel the print, or to change filament. Swipe left for details about the print.

NOTE: MakerBot Mobile has limited compatibility with tablet devices. The application will need to be installed on an Apple or Android smartphone device. If you are having trouble setting up or connecting to a printer over the MakerBot Mobile app, we recommend using the MakerBot Print computer software.
