Enabling Remote Monitoring and Printing
What is Remote Monitoring?
With the release of MakerBot Mobile 2.0, you now have the option to start, monitor, and cancel prints from cellular data-enabled mobile devices even when you are not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Before you can enable remote monitoring you must connect your 3D printer to MakerBot Mobile.
How to Enable Remote Monitoring and Printing
Activate Cloud Services for your MakerBot 3D Printer.
If your MakerBot 3D printer has a control panel, navigate to Settings > MakerBot Cloud Services. Then select Remote Access: OFF and follow the prompts to enable remote access. When you have finished, the MakerBot Cloud Services screen will display “Remote Access: ON.”
Alternatively, in MakerBot Desktop you can navigate to Devices > Device Preferences. Then check the “Enable Cloud Services” box.
Open MakerBot Mobile, then tap the menu icon and select Printers.
Tap on your device in the list that appears.
- Press the control panel dial on a MakerBot Replicator or MakerBot Replicator Z18, or the Action Button on a MakerBot Replicator Mini, to authenticate your MakerBot 3D Printer.
NOTE: MakerBot Mobile has limited compatibility with tablet devices. The application will need to be installed on an Apple or Android smartphone device. If you are having trouble setting up or connecting to a printer over the MakerBot Mobile app, we recommend using the MakerBot Print computer software.
