I work in a public library and I'm looking at the possibility of providing a community resource to print 3D objects. I'm wondering if any other folks have set up their MakerBot as a public resource. Is there demand for such a service? Has anyone found any money resources to assist in the purchase for public use?

Yeah, there is someone setting up a space with MakerBots + other equipment in Lafayette. It looks like they are just starting to build the space, but it is a great idea!

The Merrick Library has a Makerbot. We just opened a digital media center, and hope to order the later model once usage increases. Great for libraries - introducing the community to the whole "maker" experience.
I'm trying to compile a list of all the libraries in the world that have 3d printers. Most of them are Makerbots. Here's the list:

Hi again everyone.
I've compiled some data, and it appears around 50% of the 54 libraries in the world who have 3D printers have Makerbots. Attached below is my report on the topic, along with a data sheet. If you're looking for information on how other libraries are using their 3D printers, use the links in the data sheet to look at their websites and/or get in touch with them.
