Is the Thing-O-Matic discontinued? When I go to this page http://store.makerbot.com/makerbot-thing-o-matic.html I get a 404 error.

Thanks

Our shop would like to get the Thing-O-Matic rather than the replicator. Half the price, same basic functionality. Does it exsist any more on the store?

I'm sorry, but the Thing-O-Matic has been discontinued and is no longer available in the MakerBot Store.  You may be interested in our new product, The Replicator.™

Can we at least get instruction for it for doing repairs to the ones we have?

Hi Scott,

You should be able to figure out most issues by looking at the build instructions: http://www.makerbot.com/docs/thingomatic/instructions-for-educators/

If you have questions that you can't figure out even after looking through those pages, please start a ticket with us and we'll be happy to help.

Hi,

I know the new replicator is all cool and stuff, but I want to buy the thing-o-matic instead for the joy of putting this thing together. Can you please bring back the thing-o-matic? I am actually thinking of buying both cuz I wanna use them for education purposes.

Thanks,

Tamer

Sorry, and I don't mean to be flip here, but the Replicator is head-and-shoulders above the Thing-O-Matic.  Buying that instead of the Replicator for educational purposes would be like teaching someone modern car repair with an Edsel.  I'm not kidding, I've had the new Replicator for less than 2 weeks and it is the f'-ing BOMB!

The MakerBot group on groups.google.com is a great resource for help with repairs.  Also, I'm compiling some information here: http://www.txoof.com/2011/12/building-makerbot-table-of-contents.html

For those interested in a ToM there are already built ones on ebay all the time (can't vouch for which ones are makerbot made and which are copies).  Also, I know someone with an unbuilt kit (one of the last ToM kits sold in march) who may be selling it.
