Can't update firmware on new Thingomatic...?

I just completed a new Makerbot thingomatic build and am trying to test everything out. I noticed that the ABP motor will not turn. When I select the ABP belt in the control panel the extruder fan comes on (oddly), the belt won't move. The fan button also turns on the fan (as would be expected). I have double checked the wiring and am quite confident it is correct. Anyway, I searched the troubleshooting area and see that someone said I need to update my system to v3.1 to resolve this problem.

So...I am trying to upgrade the firmware and cannot get it to work. I am doing this from a Macbook Pro running 10.7.2 and I installed the ftdi driver included in the replicatorG distribution. When I start replicatorG it connects fine and tells me I have Motherboard firmware v3.0, etc. I select firmware upgrade for a v2.x(Gen4) with Mega2560 and click next. I select 3.1, click next (it tells me I need to update Motherboard, Extruders, ReplicatorG). I select my serial port (same as set up for connection), click next. Then I get the dialog to click upload just after clicking reset button on motherboard. I have done this dozens of times. Every time nothing at all happens. I let it sit for 10-15minutes even though there is no indication that anything is happening. Eventually I force-quit replicatorG and try again. As I say, I have tried many many times trying to press the reset and upload buttons at the same time, just after each other, etc etc. What could be wrong?

Yes, it turned out that the Motherboard was not properly seated on the Arduino.  I took out my motherboard and looked at it and saw that whoever assembled it had gotten one row of pins out of alignment.  Once I took the two apart, straightened the header and the pins and reassembled, everything works great.  See photo: http://bgp.nu/~tom/pub/makerbotch.jpg

Thanks

I removed all the cables to check if the motherboard was properly seated and everything works great.

My issue is similar, I cannot get the motherboard and rep G to connect.  Com3 being used and the computer states it is a fine connection, yet the info about teh board is not being pulled from the Adreno board.  Tried the reset, go, , go, reset till I want to throw this across the wall.  I don't get this as if things are not solid enough for a simple reset/program/read, , then there is a design issue and should be corrected.  Tried it smiling too but that didn't help (that was a joke).   Is there a forum group in the DC metro area where I could go and have others help me with this??
